When it comes to getting a pet, there are certain animals that may immediately spring to mind. Dogs and cats are among the most popular, and for those who fancy something a little less demanding, hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits and gold fish are all common.

However, if you are looking for a new addition to your home, you might want to consider getting chinchillas.

Native to the Andes in South America, these cute rodents can make fantastic pets.

They are very active and therefore entertaining, meaning you should be able to get endless hours of entertainment from them.

However, if you choose to purchase such creatures, there are a number of things you should bear in mind.

Firstly, it is not a good idea to let them roam your property loose. They are extremely fast and also have a habit of chewing anything they come across. This is not because they are being naughty, although you may see it as such.

In fact, these creatures have to chew on things frequently because their teeth constantly grow, so they need to wear them down.

So, when you get such animals, you should also invest in a chinchilla cage. This means you will be able to enjoy their presence safe in the knowledge that your home is not being munched.

The type of chinchilla cage you get will depend on your budget and the amount of space you have. However, as a general rule, you should go for larger ones to give your pets plenty of room to roam around in.

Here at ideas-4-pets, we have a selection of these items to choose from, along with other products such as dog cages.

To see if any of the chinchilla or dog cages, or indeed anything else, could benefit you, simply browse our website.

Chinchillas can make great pets, and as long as you provide them with a good chinchilla cage and the correct food and care, you should have years of fun looking after them.

It is important to note when you take on these pets that they are not good at showing outward signs of pain, so you will have to keep a close eye on them to make sure they are okay.

Having a safe chinchilla cage can help reduce the risk of injury, so it is worth putting a considerable amount of thought into which one is most appropriate for your animal before you make a purchase.

After all, no one wants to put their furry friends in any kind on unnecessary danger.

One thing you should bear in mind is that these pets become most active and make use of their chinchilla cages to the greatest extent at night time because they are nocturnal.

This means it can be more difficult to determine whether or not they are on top form.

One way to keep abreast of the condition of your animals is to monitor how much food is left in their chinchilla cages after they have been fed.

A sudden decline in appetite may signal a problem that requires further investigation by experts.

Meanwhile, if your pet develops a tendency to hide or becomes aggressive, this could also be an indication it is frightened or in pain.

As long as you are responsible when selecting a chinchilla cage and keep a close eye on the creatures, you can rest assured they will be content in your home.

So, you’ve bought the chinchilla cage, got the food and are about to pick up the animal itself. But do you really know what you’re doing?

Having an animal of this kind can be a fun and rewarding experience, but in order for both you and your new pet to get the most from it, it is important you know how to approach the situation.

As well as selecting a chinchilla cage that is large enough and has enough items of interest to keep them entertained, you should make sure you understand their nutritional requirements.

For example, you may wish to note that feeding them a diet of predominantly hay and grass can help prevent many of the common diseases the creatures suffer from, such as dental and gut problems.

When checking chinchilla cages, you should see if the food has been consumed. If it has not, your furry friend may be unwell.

Meanwhile, if the animal shows signs of sore feet, wetness around the eyes or mouth and fur loss, you should consult a vet as soon as possible.

Even if there is not a problem, you should take your pet to be examined by an expert at least once a year.

Meanwhile, do not keep your animal with another of the opposite sex in the same chinchilla cage – unless you intend to breed them and provisions have been made to care for both parents and offspring.

The exception to this is if one or both of the pets have been neutered, in which case unwanted pregnancy is not a risk.

Chinchillas have become very popular pets in recent years, and it’s not surprising when you see them. The chinchilla is a South American rodent, which has a long tail and large ears which puts them right at the top of the Cute List. This, and the fact that they have a soft, fluffy body and spirited personality is the reason why they have become so popular. If you are thinking of buying one or more of these animals, make sure you do your homework first.

For example, you could use hamster cages for your new pet, but its probably best to buy a custom made chinchilla cage from the ideas-4-pets website. Once you have bought the chinchilla cage, its time to start looking around the pet shops.

There are signs to watch for when you are choosing your pet. For example, the chinchilla should be alert and have clear eyes. The ears should be clear of sores, excessive wax or redness, because this could mean the chinchilla has an infection. Check the teeth and make sure they are properly aligned, and examine the body for injuries or sores. Hold the chinchilla, and see how he reacts to human contact. They may nip, but are generally playful and friendly when they get used to you.

If you want some advice on buying a chinchilla cage, get in touch with the people at ideas-4-pets and they will be happy to help you with this or any other pet related questions.

When choosing the right cage, remember that this will be your pet’s home and they will spend most of their time in there. You therefore need to make sure the best chinchilla cages will be comfortable and safe for your pet to lead a happy, healthy life.

The size of the chinchilla cage is very important as your pet needs to have enough room to be able to move around and stay active. There also needs to be enough room to place a few accessories inside and a sleeping box. The height of the cage is not as important as the amount of floor space that is available. However if you have more than one chinchilla, you need to ensure the cage is spacious enough for both of them to play together or be on their own if they want to hide for example.

Most chinchilla cages are made from either wood or mesh – the type you choose is up to personal preference. Mesh may be easier to clean as the wood may become stained by urine. A wooden cage may also encourage your pet to chew the sides which could lead to it becoming destroyed. You also need to think a about the base of the cage. A mesh bottom may keep the cage cleaner as it will allow the droppings or urine to pass through onto the tray below. You can then line the tray with newspaper or saw dust, for example.

You want to be able to give your pet chinchilla the best possible environment to keep them happy and healthy. The most difficult decision is getting the best chinchilla cage, however you should not stop there. This cage is going to be your pet’s home and the place they spend most of their time, so you should invest in some accessories to make their home a fun place. After all, this is why we love to furnish our homes with different gadgets.

As a large part of a healthy lifestyle for any animal (and ourselves) sleeping is very important. That is why your chinchilla will also need a sleeping box. This needs to be big enough for him to run in and out of but there also needs to be enough room if you have more than one pet, as they will all huddle together for warmth. Other essentials you will need include a water bottle and food bowl.

Shelves can be positioned in chinchilla cages to give your pet different heights and places to explore. They should not be too far apart and sturdy enough to support your pet when he is jumping from one to the other.

As you want to keep your pet healthy, encourage them to act as they naturally would in the wild. Chinchillas like to chew on things so invest in a few accessories for them to bite on. They also like to hide, so you may think about getting them a few tube shaped toys for them to crawl through and hide.

Pets will often have different requirements. For example, a cat might require a high level of freedom, whereas a dog might respond to discipline chinchillas on the other hand live for activity, and therefore when choosing chinchilla cage you should definitely bear this in mind.

A chinchilla is one the most upwardly mobile pets you can ever hope to own, and whilst their gymnastics can be very entertaining, they are particularly demanding pets. Therefore, a chinchilla cage will be markedly different to other kinds of cage or animal housing, and should be optimized to accommodate maximum activity.

On a simple level, a chinchilla cage to needs to be as big as possible, and even a whole room dedicated to your pet would not be a bad idea as in order to satisfy their instinct for activity adequately they need plenty of room to do it. Therefore you should never cram a poor chinchilla into an unsuitable cage, such as a hamster cage, and instead a chinchilla cage needs to be perfectly engineered for purpose.

Next, you should consider the cage materials, and as chinchillas love to rear up against the front of their chinchilla cage you could opt for a metal “meshed” type material. Be warned, however, that metal mesh if the not the right size can trap your little chinchilla’s feet.

Finally, whilst your chinchilla will spend a lot of time in their chinchilla cage, you should also give them plenty of time to run around freely. With this in mind, you could even construct a mini obstacle course or your pet.

We all want to give our pets the best, and that often comes down to the level of comfort we’re able to provide. When it comes to chinchillas you’re going to need the best cage that you can, but if you really want to make the chinchilla cage the perfect home you need to think about the accessories you include as well.

While the chinchilla cage itself will obviously have a huge impact on the level of comfort your pet has, the accessories can really make all the difference. A house for them to make their bed in can be ideal, as it gives them the chance to sleep in peace. You wouldn’t like to sleep on display so why would your pet? Give them something to snuggle up in and they’ll be much more at ease.

It’s also essential to keep them occupied if you want them to be happy, and the right accessories can be used to great effect. You could include, for example, gnawing sticks, balls, ropes to climb on and various other chinchilla toys, all of which will be able to keep them amused when they can’t be out of the cage with you.

Accessories really can make any chinchilla cage the perfect home, and if you want the best you’re going to need a good selection to choose from. That’s where we come in here at ideas-4-pets. We have a great range of accessories to make any chinchilla cage the ultimate home, so make sure to have a browse to see what we’ve got to offer.

Owning a pet can be a great experience, but if you want to keep them just as happy as you are then you’ll need to take good care of them. The cage is one of the most important things to consider, and if you own a chinchilla then choosing the right cage is vital. So, here are just a few things that all chinchilla cages need to have.

Enough space. Chinchillas may be small, but they need plenty of space to move around in if they’re going to be happy in their home. They need enough room to have different areas, such as a sleeping area and an eating area, so always make sure to choose a chinchilla cage that’s big enough.

A place to sleep. It’s a good idea to give your pet somewhere that they can use as their sleeping area, like a small wooden house with plenty of bedding so they can make it to their liking.

Climbing ropes. Chinchillas are active creatures and they like to be kept amused, and giving them ropes to climb in their cage allows them to be active whilst keeping them entertained at the same time.

Toys/treats. Much like us, chinchillas like to be treated. That means that any chinchilla cage should always have plenty of toys for them to play with, and make sure to give them regular treats to show them just how much they mean to you.

These are just a few things that all chinchilla cages need to have, and if you bear them in mind you’ll be able to give your pet a comfortable and enjoyable home.

Whilst chinchillas are relatively small, when it comes to their cage the saying “the bigger the better” is quite apt. Like with most small animals, chinchillas need to be able to roam around at their will leaving enough space for other things for your chinchilla, e.g. tubes and shelves. Obviously you will have a rough idea of just what size of chinchilla cage your home will be able to accommodate but generally a cage that is around 18 inches long, 36 inches wide and 30 inches high should be sufficient enough to accommodate at least two chinchillas.

The height of the cage isn’t necessarily as important measurement wise, as long as there is a top on the cage to prevent your chinchilla from escaping. Having a taller, narrow cage is probably not the best idea as you may find your chinchilla bouncing around in its cage needing to run off some steam. You should also think about the long-run of having chinchillas as to whether or not you intend to breed; if you do you should take this into consideration when purchasing your chinchilla cage. This is because you will obviously need to be able to accommodate for the extra chinchillas but also to ensure the baby chinchillas safety with the height of the cage as they are good climbers but could be at risk of falling out of the cage!

Overall, when choosing a chinchilla cage its important to be confident that they are going to have enough space to run around in, with enough private area for them to sleep in and not feel threatened by the surrounding environment.

At Ideas-4-Pets our area of expertise is animal care. We provide a vast range of dog kennels, parrot cages and rabbit hutches as well as chinchilla cages for different requirements.
