Choosing The Correct Hamster For A Pet
There are dwarf hamsters, Russian hamsters and short dwarf hamsters to choose from as your new pet. All of these hamsters are very sociable and well tempered. Whether you decide to purchase one hamster or two, you will need to look at providing them with a new hamster cage and good food to keep them comfortable and in good health.
If you are choosing two hamsters, it is best if they are from the same litter, as other hamsters should generally be kept in separate hamster cages to avoid any conflict.
When you choose your hamster or hamsters, ask the pet breeder the type of food he has been giving your new pet as it is better to change a hamster’s diet slowly to avoid upset stomachs.
At Ideas-4-pets we stock hamster products and hamster cages including hamster food and hamster bedding.
When feeding your new pet we advise you to feed him once a day towards the evening or a little later. Take a fistful of hamster mix with bits of vegetables and place in his food bowl. Refill his water bottle every day with fresh water. If there is some food left over next day, reduce the amount. However, if it is all eaten you may need to check in his hamster cage to see if he is hoarding his food.
Hamster cages come in different sizes and colour with a single or double tier to allow your pet to run around, play and make his nest. Always cover the bottom of your chosen hamster cage with clean hamster bedding. We also stock a variety of supplies for other pets at Ideas-4-Pets, including dog kennels and parrot cages.
