When you go to a pet shop or a breeder to purchase your pet hamster, the ideal time is towards the evening. Hamsters are up and playing in their hamster cages around at that time. Check your hamster has a round smooth body, clean all over especially on it under body. Watch out for any bare patches on his body. Next, inspect his ears are clean and if the master is a baby then look at his ears to see if they are covered in fur.

Hamster’s eyes should be bright and clean with no signs of mucus. If you are thinking of purchasing a baby hamster the best age is between four to five weeks as at that age they are easier to train. Both male and female hamsters are easy to train as they are well tempered. If you are thinking of having more than one hamster you should be choosing two or more out of the same litter. Avoid having two different species of hamsters in your hamster cages from different litters as hamsters are often territorial in their attitudes.
