Why choose pressure treated or tanalised timber? The word "tanalised" comes from the liquid preservative originally used in the process which is called "Tanalith" After the process is completed, the wood repels vermin, insects and rot and provides a clean, bright, long-life timber which should last for 20 year plus under the harshest conditions and completely eliminates the need to use further preservatives on an annual basis. The process The wood is immersed in a liquid preservative and placed in a vacuum pressure chamber under controlled conditions. The chamber forces the chemical into the wood fibres and this approach makes sure that the chemical reaches the core of each piece of wood. It will not leak out in any type of environment and is a much more effective treatment than simply soaking the wood in preservative or annually applying liquid preservative by hand. Products purchased with this treatment will be at a higher price than timber treated in the usual manner but customers will save in the long run as their product will last for many years with no maintenance. |
